So you can almost say it is a waste of time. Numerous of people have said they should be taking a lab that they will not be using in there next stages in life. Will an accountant be using astronomy or will a history teacher be naming the neurons and protons in a object. I bet not there is no need to. We could be taking more classes about our major and learning about stuff that will contribute to our futures.
