The first kindergarten was opened up in 1856. This, like the first public school, was a major step in enrolling children in school who normally may not have attended. Kindergarten prepares young children for grade school instead of the child just being thrown in and not understanding it to the degree another child, who may have been taught by parents at home understands. Although it may not touch as many people as a kindergarten or a public school I think it still plays a key role in history. The school was founded by Horace Mann and like Boston English is still around and running today. The school provides full high school educations for deaf and hard of hearing students in a normal high school setting. I personally think this is such an amazing thing and think it is so great that these students can live out a normal highschool life. That's why I believe the establishment of this schools played such a major role in educational
