Boston Is Our Home "I don't feel comfortable walking through my own city," said a Muslim women. Ever since, the Muslim community hasn’t felt safe leaving their home. That day many thought it was safer to stay home. (This Is What It's Like to Be a Muslim in Boston Right Now) Boston has many problems it needs to solve, one of them is not blaming one specific group of people for something someone from “their community” did. The 9/11 incident lead people to be angry with the Muslim community, so angry that they even harm people who aren't Muslim. Dodero describes, “half-Indian, half-German coworker—someone who isn't Arab or Muslim, but had still been beat up after 9/11 for his looks and his exotic name...” (This Is What It's Like to Be a Muslim in Boston Right Now). The citizens of Boston were looking for someone to blame but instead ended up blaming a whole religion and people who didn't practice the religion but looked like they did were affected. The work of one person is not the same work as another. People in the same religion have the same belief but do not all think the same, they do not act the same nor do the same thing. Anyone can become a coldblooded killer or a terrorist not one group or a whole religion. By thinking that everyone or a whole group of people are bad peoples hurts not only them but also us. By putting the label of “terrorist” “bad people” or “watch out for them and their people they are dangerous” we are judging them and not giving them an opportunity to show who they really are. We hurt them and their feels because nobody wants to be called a terrorist or thought as a bad person. Nobody wants to be lonely. By doing this we condone them to be alone without the help of their people (who don't look like them). We also hurt ourselves why not getting to know them. We limit ourselves to not making new friendship, relationships, or alliances. One thing that we need to understand that we are equal. Dodero also explains, “Regardless of what our background is, we all are Bostonians—no more, no less than any other Bostonian. We all feel the pain that Boston feels, we all feel the love that Boston feels, we all feel the pride that Boston feels and our religious or ethnic background doesn’t keep us from feeling that joy, pride, or sadness.” (This Is What It's Like to Be a Muslim in Boston Right Now) Muslim citizens who have grown up and lived their whole lives in Boston are just like anyone else, they are Bostonians like anyone else. Even though, they came from there this does not mean all muslims are at fault for something someone in their area did. Plus, the Boston Bombers did not come from what everyone thought was the Middle East, instead they came from Chechnya, Russia. This goes to prove that Muslims were not the culprits of the Boston bombing but we still treat them like if they were. In addition, there isn't any proof that a whole country is conspiring against the United States. We already know about the group ISIS are only focus should be to stop them from hurting anyone else. Instead, we put our focus and hate on people who grew up and have lived with us their whole lives. It's like saying that since there are many men who are rapist all men are dangerous, when that is not the case. This will work to finally put a stop to the known terrorist group causing harm. It will help the United States and its citizens to put their hate and anger on them instead of their Muslim neighbors. This will lead to unity and to the community coming together and working together with all of our
