The novel Born Blue written by Han Nolan is about the impact of parental alcoholism on teenagers and reveals that a child of alcoholic parent does not have any life and have to suffer so much when growing up. The protagonist in this story is Janie and the antagonist is the situation she is living in and the characters who does not help her to become a singer. The setting took place in Alabama 21st centuries. Janie who changed her name to Leshaya is the daughter of Mama Linda a heroin addicted. She lives in a foster home with her foster parents and brother Harmon. She has a very good voice and want to be a singer like “The Ladies” and “Etta James”. When she is seven years old, one day, her mother kidnaps her from her foster home and sell her to a different family for heroin. When Mitch and Shell are caught and sent off to jail doing this business she steals money from their home and run off to Tuscaloosa to Harmon and his adopted parents. Mr. and Mrs. James do not like her as they love their own children because of her bad behavior and she stole some of valuable objects from home. So, she runs away with Jaz a boy who she like from a band which she joined earlier. This movie is about a boy whose mother is mentally disturbed after the separation of husband and wife. So, she moves to a nursing home, but her son misses her so much. This teenager had a passion of learning and wanted to be like her mother one day. When he gets expelled from boarding school, he writes letters to many families to adopt him.
