Borderline Personality Disorder In I M Bad At Love By Halsey

The first song I chose was I’m Bad at Love by Halsey. Halsey’s song entails all of her past failed relationships. Now I can’t relate to each of Halsey’s relationships she describes in the song, but I relate to her underlying message. Something a lot of people don’t know about Halsey is that she has Bi-Polar Disorder. In 2017, I was diagnosed with Borderline Personality Disorder. It was a very big day for me. I was in no way devastated about my disorder but relieved. It was nice to put a name to the actions and pain I had been going through. Although they are two very different disorders mood dysregulation is associated with both disorders. The event I chose was when my disorder became its worst and I got into a relationship that was no good …show more content…
I can relate my struggles mostly to her song when she says, “Look, I don’t mean to frustrate, but I always make the same mistakes… ‘cause I’m bad at love.” When she talks about making the same mistakes it makes me think of my pattern of behaviors and how most of my relationships end the same way. My ex and I were stuck in a pattern of partying and then having the same fights. When I would listen to this song it would remind me that the same problems would just keep popping …show more content…

The next song I chose was Strawberry Swing by Coldplay. I chose this song to represent one of the best days of my life. The best day of my life was this summer on a road trip. My family and I were traveling up through Colorado, Mississippi, Louisiana, and Tennessee. The views were great as we were driving and the city life was very exciting. We got to visit Beale Street in Memphis, Elvis’ house, and many interesting places in New Orleans. Strawberry Swing is a very mellow and uplifting song. It reminds me of the overall memory of our trip. However, there are a couple of specific moments in Louisiana.
During our trip, we planned on going to an aquarium. I found the aquarium to be very mesmerizing. It was my first time ever being in an aquarium. At one point in the aquarium, my family and I got to pet sting rays. I remember the water being cold and the sting rays very soft. It was indefinitely a peak experience for me. Coldplay puts this moment perfectly into words by saying, “Cold, Cold water. Bring me ‘round. Now my feet won’t touch the ground.” There were many moments when I felt like my feet weren’t touching the ground. We walked through tunnels that surrounded us with water and wildlife. After we were done visiting the Aquarium, I still wanted to see more

Für Elise by Beethoven is the song that expresses who I am. When I started playing piano, I got frustrated that most of my family had a natural talent while I didn't. My father talked to me and gave me one of the most important lessons of my life: "Practice makes perfection, if you want something, insist until you get it". After playing piano as a hobby, at age 17 I decided to take my skills to the next level by taking piano lessons at college and I challenged myself to first learn how to play Für Elise. It wasn't easy, but practice made perfection.…

The first salient moment occurred during the second day of the trip. We had just spent the entire day walking in the sand and the sun, and I was exhausted and hurting. We were all dragging, and slowing trudging through Nauset Marsh. It was just getting dark and the blood moon was rising over the beach, and the only thing I wanted to do and cared about at that moment in time was getting…

Listening to the selections I found they all generally appeal to me though others have more of an immediate preference than others. A genuine love for music creates an appreciation for all genres. One can respect or acknowledge the environment from which it was produced, its purpose, and the skill of the musician(s). I particularly became fond of The Andrew Sisters after experiencing the song “The Boogie Woogie Bugle Boy”. I recall hearing it from a television commercial vaguely, but it was a completely new thing to see and hear them perform it.…

Borderline Personality Disorder also referred to as BPD is a mental disorder where the control and regulation of impulsions, relationship stability and outlook on both life and oneself are negatively affected (Lieb, Zanarini, Schmahl, Linehan & Bohus, 2004). This becomes a challenge for individuals affected by it especially in terms of the social context in everyday life. But it has become apparent that the roots of this illness are sometimes brought on quite early in human development, even if the symptoms do not show until later. Almost 80% of individuals with Borderline Personality Disorder (BPD) report a history of childhood abuse as a part of growing up in invalidating environments (Feigenbaum, 2007). Before clinicians can apply their…

The song I chose is “Surfin’ U.S.A.”, is characterized by the Beach Boys. I chose this song because of how laid back the tune sounds and makes me want to relax. It’s relaxing because the song reminds me of the beach and the sounds of the waves. In the song it talks about how they will be gone for the summer and to tell the teacher they have gone surfing. The summer always reminds me of the beach and all the surfers in the water.…

When it comes down to the songs that will play in the movie of my life, these songs would be dramatic. Every song would have a different meaning, and more attention, destruct and love in it than the last. There are certain songs that are more committed to a certain time or event that has happened. Some are due to it being the song we sang when at the time, some being the lyrics that stuck years later yet most are because of the feeling when the song is first heard. Going as far back that I can remember, most of the songs that I would hear would be on the car rides to school or camp.…
