Borderline Personality Disorder Case Study

Introduction
Definition of Borderline Personality Disorder (BPD) is a specific pattern of impairments and traits (dsm-5, 2015). In this paper, I provide background information about Bryce Larsen, my person of interest, I discuss the history, diagnostic criteria, and effects of BPD, and I apply this information to Bryce’s lived experiences. This paper is purely for educational purposes and not a true diagnosis of the individual represented.
Background Information
At thirty-one years old, Bryce, is an average, athletic built, white male who currently resides in Utah with his wife and her three boys; whereas, his biological three young children live with their mother, his ex-wife, in Colorado. Settling in a middle class community close to family,

Sheltered from worldly views and other religious beliefs, Bryce attended church every Sunday whether he wanted to or not; likewise, he had no choice in attending other extracurricular church activities such as boy scouts. Peers predominantly attended the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints (LDS); however, he didn’t have many friends. Succumbed to pressures of family and church, Bryce followed in his father’s footsteps and decided to become a missionary for the Church of Jesus Christ of LDS in Denver, Colorado. Blissfully happy for three years, the talk of children came to fruition. A miscarriage and his wife’s job loss devastated his finances, consequently a bankruptcy and eventual sale of the home was necessary. Illness during pregnancy consumed his wife and he began an online affair. With the birth of his eldest and his wife predisposed, he posed for a picture of his “motorcycle accident” in his wife’s hospital bed to upload to social media. This justifiably caused a separation with his then wife; however, Bryce eventually charmed his way to forgiveness and reunited with her. Three and a half years later Bryce was laid off; subsequently, financial and family’s insistence moved his family to Utah. Six months and four days after the move, Bryce filed for divorce after seven years of marriage.
Prior to finalization of his divorce, but after a three week separation, Bryce began an affair with his cousin’s wife Whitney. Six months of mediation in court allowed his kids and wife to move back to Colorado. Shortly after that event, Whitney and Bryce moved in together. This short lived affair caused the exile from family reunions when Whitney reunited with her husband, Bryce’s cousin. As a result of his despair, Bryce was introduced to his next
