Despite the border being a wall that tries to separates families, cultures, and two different but great countries; none of this ever affected my family or environment. Because my community is mostly immigrants, us the new generation, do not want to repeat the pattern of not transcending, but instead move forward and have a better life than what we are accustomed too. We want to overcome any difficulties that may come in our way, prove the ignorant that we -America’s lower class- are hardworking students that will surpass and strive to be the greatest.
Because there are crimes, I have steadily learned by observing other people’s mistakes, to assemble decisions that I can benefit from in the future, and not regret. Also, watching my community make efforts and find ways to exceed, motivates me to be that change that my community is waiting for. Today, I am a person who wants to leave a mark, who wants to see my community be recognized for an inspiring change, and who is optimistic about change. A motto and principle I remind myself constantly of, is that in order for a community to prosper, a change must start by integrating into the community and achieving that change oneself.
In conclusion, my neighborhood and the environment I have lived by have provided me with life lessons that have given me an understanding of who I am today, and who I intent on becoming. Crimes, walls, or any border is an impediment to attain the greatest, for I have learned from my community that only you are your own
