Half of the illegal immigrants crossing the U.S. and Mexican border into America were not caught in one year (Associated Press). Though this could be shocking it needs to be addressed. As many people as possible should be let into the U.S. but they should cross the borders legally. By securing the United States’ borders this will help enforce this rule. We should not increase our border security because we are discriminatory, we should do it for the safety of the citizens. When more illegal immigrants enter the country it can hurt the economy (Immigration Pros and Cons), give people diseases (Shapiro), and take people’s jobs away (Associated Press). For this reason, this issue is important and needs to be addressed. The United States should secure its borders. Borders are not just with Mexico, they are also with Canada, boat ports, and airports. It is shown that by putting new technologies, illegal immigration is decreasing. It still needs work though because we do not know how many are not detected. People think that illegal immigrants should be let in. The problem is that illegal immigrants can harm the citizens of America. They can do this by bringing in diseases, drugs, and weapons. It is also easier for terrorists to come into the country. This means more terrorist attacks. There is also voter fraud that can get us the wrong candidate. People say that illegal immigrants can help the economy. They cannot though if they take our jobs, burden the tax process, and making taxpayers pay for their food.
