The Inevitable by Kevin Kelly Technology growth over time

Kevin kelly’s novel, The Inevitable (2016), explains that technology has developed, changed, and improved slowly over the years. Kelly supports his claim by describing the 12 technological forces that will shape our future. Kelly’s purpose is to teach others the technological forces, because they will transform the way we do things in order to do this we need to embrace the forces so it will be easier for us to stay on track with the technological changes that come our way in the next 30 years. The author's intended audience is those working in developing technology so they will have an open mind to the possibilities the future can create.

For pathos in the text it states, “ however neither dystopia nor utopia is our destination. Rather technology is taking us to a protopia more accurately we have already arrived in protopia” (pg.13). This quote appeals to the emotional response of the readers because it talks about world we all live in together. A protopia is about moving forward slowly improving over time and technology is the key. For logos in the text it states, “ In three decades since then, this technological convergence between communication and computation has spread, and evolved. The internet/web/mobile system has moved from fringes of society (where it was pretty much ignored in 1981) to the center stage of our modern global society” (pg.2). This quote appeals to logos because it opens people's eyes to the truth about where our world and technology is headed in the 30 years to come. Everything is changing its inevitable nothing can stop

This leaves little to no room for actual credibility to be added. There is an extreme appeal to pathos, but almost no appeal to logos. This is surprising coming from an author that is highly educated and has contributed much to the science community. Lastly, one of the biggest flaws of this piece comes into play at the conclusion. As Eisley tries to tie his writing back to his introduction, he chooses one of the weakest aspects, again citing a memory not many others can relate…

They are putting their communities safety first before they think about making any kind of profit for themselves. Klein wrote how profit earned from the sale of energy would be returned to the city instead of shareholders. Klein believes the United States should switch to community owned energy sectors instead of dealing with privately owned energy companies.…

By shrink, I mean we can fit what used to be a 60 pound computer system into our pockets. With the decrease in size, the increase in popularity seems to only be growing.…
