Only the lucky survive
Thomas wakes up in a box with no memory of his past and the only thing he can cling to is his name. He is surrounded by strangers- boys in particular, who also have no memories of their pasts. Thomas finds himself stuck in a place called “The Glade”. The Glade is surrounded by a towering, boundless, transitioning maze which inhabits the terrorizing flesh-eating “Grievers”. The maze is the only way to get out- but no one's ever made it through alive. The boys in the Glade also known as the “Gladers” have been looking for a way out of the maze for 2 years and have now begun to lose hope. Until something unspeakable happens. A girl shows up, the first girl EVER. She delivers a message and triggers something that

The Grievers are petrifying, terrorizing creations that live in the maze and come out during the night. Their purpose is abundantly clear, kill any Glader in sight. They are said to be dark creatures, with many accessories such as rods, shears and spikes. Grievers make clicking and whirring sounds as they move. If a Griever “stings” a Glader and they get the Grief serum they go through a painful process called “The Changing”. If a Glader gets stung and does not receive the Grief serum they die. The Grievers guard the maze like watchdogs, their purpose in the maze is to stop Gladers from escaping and the only way to do that is to kill them.
Who are the Creators? What was the motive of their experiment?
The Creators are a group of scientists, who were members of an organization called W.I.C.K.E.D (World In Catastrophe: Killzone Experiment Department). Before they were sent into the maze, Thomas and Teresa also worked alongside with W.I.C.K.E.D. They fabricated the Trials so they could trigger specific pattern in the Killzones (the part of the brain affected by the Flare) of a group of subjects. Afterward, they would use the information from the patterns and would attempt to discover what it was that made certain people immune to the Flare.

Me? I kept getting this feeling that I knew her. There was something nagging me, a spark of a memory, but I just couldn’t place it. I felt this weird connection to her, and the fact that she could telepathically talk to me made things even more complicated. Wired feelings were arising for her. Although, she was the ending trigger, she was also the reason we figured out to examine the maze differently, she told us the maze was a code. Without Teresa we would never have escaped the maze. She not only affected me, but she also affected everyone in the Glade one way or another.
Explain your opinion on Gally.
Ugh Gally. I hated the man and his guts. He tried to act like he was the boss and everything, but what he really was, was a big bully. I don’t think I’ve ever met someone who had such sudden and passionate hatred toward me, the thing is I don’t even know what I ever did to the guy. I think he just hated my guts. The only thing I have to say about Gally is that I hated him from the bottom of my heart; I hate him passionately with all my heart’s desire. The fact that he killed Chuck ignited a flame, a fire of hatred within me and I never will, never am going to regret what I did to him.

The “Teresa DeBrito” chapter from Malcolm Gladwell’s David and Goliath connects the size of classes to learning and the amount of money to raising children. I believe that Gladwell did a great job in this essay and I agree with most of his points. An assumption I had before reading was that children who come from nothing have more drive then kids who are raised surrounded by wealth. The reason for my assumption is that I have heard/seen so many stories of people who’ve started from nothing and have became successful.…
