Curiosity, it is seen in everyone, it is part of the human brain. The thing about a story that is full of curiosity is that it is hard to get bored and easy to get lost. Maya is a 17-year-old girl who lives in a small town, Salmon Creek. Salmon Creek is a medical research town as well as very small containing approximately only 200 people, which always makes new people interesting to the town. We see Maya and Daniel who is her best friend thinking a lot about the mysterious death of their friend Serena. The new boy in town also shows Maya curiosity. Annie and Rafael’s mother had them involved in a trial before she died to make them like their ancestors. The three can help heal animals, and once they get to Annie’s stage they shift into cougars, which becomes uncontrollable. Maya’s curiosity wants to learn more but at the same time she doesn’t want to believe it because she is mad at Rafe. Rafe tells her about how he found her which makes her learn about her biological family, she asks herself why her mom gave her up but not her twin. “That I’m a skin-walker? That my mother is white...” (Armstrong 258), Maya is curious to know this stuff but you can see with the reaction the level of shock she went from being curious to knowing too much. Maya wonders if the St. Clouds were behind everything that had been happening, they ran the trials, if they were the creators of her abilities.
