The United States has become the biggest, fastest growing prison system in the world and its prison population has grown to overflow status and black men make up most of these prisoners. Today, black men are imprisoned at 6.5 times the rate of white men. In many American cities there are more than half of 16 and older black Americans working-age African-American men are incarcerated, on probation or considered felons. These men will have lost their civil rights under the law. This is exactly like the “Jim Crow Laws” and most of these men will never be able to better themselves and continue the cycle of poverty and unlawfulness as necessity to survive. Racial profiling is not a thing of the past young black men who look different, live in low income housing and hang out in groups are considered potential threats. This creates fear and then they are stopped, questioned, harassed and ultimately arrested for their differences, Intense police surveillance of black young men is an accepted police practice. Imprisoned endure the consequences of a stigma associated with
