Hank Ahrenholz A Sand County Almanac is a book written by Aldo Leopold in 1949. In this book he writes about what he sees in different months of the year in Wisconsin. The book is split up into 2 different sections and in the first part he talks about what he sees in nature throughout the year. He writes about things like birds building nests, geese migrating, and how man can enjoy the nature. In my words I think the main idea would be preserving nature. He brings up many reasons as to why we should preserve nature and enjoy it. I think that many people in this society does not care about the earth and they avoid trying to help it. They don’t recycle, they don’t care about nature, and they don’t want to go out of their way to make the earth a better and cleaner place to be. As time keeps moving we are continually losing nature. Buildings are being built and the amount of untouched nature is going away. Aldo Leopold says that people don’t see this and before we know it, it is going to be gone. He says that so many people just would rather learn about nature in school and not go out to enjoy it for themselves. The trading he says could mean taking awareness for the things that you can observe in nature and trading that for learning about it out of a book in school. One example of this would be birds in the morning, there are many different birds that start singing early in the morning while we are still sleeping.
