“Things were rough all over, but it was better that way. That was how you could tell the other guy was human too.” The book The Outsiders is about a 14 year old boy named Ponyboy, who lives with his two older brothers, Darry and Sodapop. Sodapop is 16 years old turning 17, Darry is 21 years old the three brothers are considered greasers. The book opens with Ponyboy getting jumped by a group of socs. The book closes with a huge rumble between the socs and greasers which determines if things would go back to normal between the two groups. The book The Outsiders it written by S.E. Hinton. The poem “ Nothing Gold Can Stay” relates to the theme of this book because it is saying that all things that are good don't last long, don't stay.
