Book Report Perks Of Being A Wallflower

My book was “The Perks Of Being A Wallflower” by Stephen Chbosky. I absolutely adore this book because, in a way, it reminds me of myself. The main characters are Charlie, Sam, and Patrick. Charlie isn’t really “all there” so to speak. He’s a freshman, and before his high school year started, his best friend committed suicide. He also lost his aunt before that. Once Charlie started high school, he secluded himself from everybody, like he didn’t want to become close to them. Many days and months flew by, and Charlie decided to go to a football game which is where he met Sam and Patrick. A lot of people called Patrick “nothing”, so Charlie did so for a while before realizing that it hurt Patrick. Sam and Patrick were step brother and step sister

It is a very intriguing fictional book that focuses on a “family” of the most elite group of con artist in the twenty-first century. While the main focus of this novel may be on this family of con artist, the plot revolves around the youngest female member, Kat. Kat is a teenage girl who recently tried to escape from her family's mischievous ways by attending Colgan Boarding School.…

The Reactionary Life The protagonist, Charlie from the novel Perks of Being a Wallflower by Stephen Chbosky along with myself demonstrate the idea of how it is not about what life throws in our way, but rather how we react to what life throws that can truly define us as a person. Within the novel, we see Charlie dealing with a multitude of stressful and traumatic events. For example, when his best friend Michael committed suicide and when his favourite aunt Helen died in a car accident, it was especially rough when he realized he was sexually abused by his aunt Helen. These are all examples that show the obstacles life can throw at you, and like Charlie we may not always react well.…

Charlie shows strong signs of PTSD in Perks of Being a Wallflower. This does not necessarily mean that he wakes up at 2AM in a pool of sweat crying and screaming and thinking about his buddy in the war but it does mean he is unable to interact normally with people in his everyday life. The cause of all of this is the trauma charlie has endured throughout his years as a child being sexually assaulted and the trauma he endures after his best friend takes his own life. Maybe the worst trauma Charlie endured in his young life was the abuse he went through with his aunt Helen.…

Discovery can encompass the many experiences of discovering something for the first time or rediscovering something that has been lost, forgotten or concealed. These discoveries can change an individual’s perspective of human nature and the wider world. These activities have changed the way I think and taught me important life lessons. This year in English 11, it was required that we wrote at least 5 pages about anything every week. This taught me something I didn’t really know about myself.…
