They trap the parents in the nursery with a bunch of lions, the lions end up killing the parents and the kids get what they want by having all of the machines to themselves and being able to use them in their lives. Ray Bradbury is trying to tell us that technology is taking over and that the kids are using it for granted.
In the beginning of the story Ray Bradbury let us know that right away the kids were very involved with technology and that they couldn't live without it. Ray Bradbury says “The house was full of dead bodies, it seemed. It felt like a mechanical cemetery. So silent. None of the humming hidden energy of machines waiting to function at the tap of a button.” This shows us that the house hasn't been this silent in a long time and that the …show more content…
In this next quote it will show how the technology is being taken for granted. ”Well, here I am, said David McClean in the nursery doorway, Oh, hello. He stared at the two children seated in the center of the open glade eating a little picnic lunch. beyond them was the water hole and the yellow Veldtland; above was the hot sun. He began to perspire. Where are your father and mother? The children looked up and smiled. Oh, they'll be here directly. Good, we must get going. At a distance Mr.McClean saw the lions fighting and clawing and then quieting down to feed in silence under the shady trees.” This quote is telling us what the children did to their parents and that they are still using the machines. The kids need to realize that there are more things to do in life than just using machines to get around because one day you won't have anyone to help you when there is no machines left. This is important to my theme because it is showing us more and more of how the kids can not handle all of the technology that is in their
