Brian undergoes change throughout the book by changing from a naive "city boy" to a wilderness survivor. This makes Brian a dynamic character because he changes throughout the story. for example, Brian tried to commit suicide, but he changed his mind and wanted to stay alive. When Brian was rescued, instead of leaving his belongings behind, Brian offered his savior something to eat. Another example is that Brian thought he would be rescued at the beginning of the book, but later thought that help would never arrive.…

One reason proving Brian turns into things to get away from people is, in the story it said “Brian knew the answer from the question, but the teacher never called on him so he didn’t even bother to raise his hand.” Then moments after that he turned into a frisbee to get away from people because they were ignoring him. This shows that, Brian is so hurt from being ignored, he turns into things so people can’t ignore him. In addition, when Brian turns into things no one notices not even people sitting right next to him. This shows how much people ignore him and how lonely he is.…

I thought HATCHET did a better job at foreshadowing because it actually gave you a clue of what was going to happen. In a “Cry in the Wild” I really didn’t understand what was going to happen until it happened. On the other hand,I thought since it was a movie “a Cry in the Wild” had better imagery but just by a little bit because Hatchet had a bunch of descriptive words. All in all, I thought hatchet had a better compound of foreshadowing and imagery than “a Cry in the…

What do you think of when you hear the word hero? Courage, perseverance, bravery? Well, in the book Orbiting Jupiter by Gary D. Schmidt published in October of 2015, I learned that heroes come in all shapes and sizes. The book is told from the point of 12 year old Jack who lives a quiet sheltered life on his parents' farm in Maine until his family takes in a foster kid named Joseph. Joseph, a normal looking black haired 14 year old with a past of hurt and abuse, became a father at 13 and was sent to a Juvenile Detention Center.…

Unlike Brian I do not think that I could survive in the canadian wilderness after looking over my characteristics and my abilities to see day fifty four. Brian endured many challenges over the gruelling fifty four days but he persevered through it and did not give up. In conclusion, although Hatchet has many thrills in their like Brian getting stranded in the wild, I’m hoping that no one ever has to go through what Brian had to and that it will stay in the thrills and wonders through the pages of the book…
