When I read this line “She laughed, and that’s when I broke down. I already missed the sound of her laughter. She only hugged me like I was a child missing a toy that she knew where to find,” I remember saying good bye to my closest cousin Valentina, she is a sweetheart. So bubbly and full of life, when I said bye to her I just broke down because she inspires and has always been there for me. I can relate to how Shivana felt. I am not sure what happens later on in the story, but I hope Shivana gets the money and does get the abortion. If she gets the abortion she can continue on the path of education and follow her dreams. I think that she should tell her mom because I think that keeping secrets is definitely not a good idea because at times it could make things a lot worse. Rasul does not use Shivana like Leroy did; this could be a new chapter in Shivana’s negative outlook on life. I think that one person can really impact your life and affect you in a good way. Whether it be a friend, co-worker, neighbor, etc. Anyone can impact you and for example, one person that changed my life would be my mom. She is a strong person who always thinks positively and tells me to not worry about stupid things. She helped me through a year of horrible anxiety last year and I could not have done it without her help. Just ONE person can change your life.
