Book Report On Sue Monk Kidd

Decent Essays
I would believe that Sue Monk Kidd's purpose for creating the secret life of bees is for what she had seen as an adolescent living in a small town in 1964 when President Lyndon Johnson signed and approved the civil rights activists at the White House. She witnessed what most people wouldn't witness as much today which is racism, injustice, and segregation unlike no other. She felt as she needed to let off stem and the only way was writing for her. Sue also mentionsaid in an interview that she wanted to create a book that would be more different than what she would normally do, so she decided to make a fiction book with amazing success. I would imagine that even without the awards, success, and all the good critics this book has gotten, Sue

I have read from page 1-66 of “The Secret Life of Bees” by Sue Monk Kidd. As I was reading, I was stunned about the similarity I found connecting this novel to “The Outsiders” by S.E Hinton. In “The Outsiders”, Ponyboy was having trouble at home with his older brother (who is basically his father since both of his parents died) Darry. After Darry slapped Ponyboy, Ponyboy had enough of the fighting between the two of them, so he decided to run away. He decided to take Johnny with him.…

“Daddy!” Most often, this is a proclamation of joy, a child announcing happiness toward their father. However, in Secret Life of Bees, a novel brilliantly written by Sue Monk Kidd, this is a cry of despair, a plea for one’s life. This stirring story is a tale of a young white girl, Lily, who with a black nanny named Rosaleen, runs away from home in search of a better life. Although often portraying events similarly, occasionally the book juxtaposes the film, which can be traced to the fact that different techniques are used in the different mediums.…

The video of Susan Apold, PhD addressing question about the Nurse Practitioner profession was not just informative, but really makes one think about how unfortunate it is that after over 50 years, and the numerous research data documenting safe patient outcomes and satisfaction, that Dr. Apold had to address some of the questions and comments presented to her. With the increase in the number of states that afford complete autonomy to NPs, there seems to be some professional tension with the expanded role of the NP. There may not be Jim Crow laws or separate bathrooms, but there is still Racial prejudice out there. A modern group that is fighting for their rights would be black lives matter, not all protests are peaceful but they're still protesting and fighting for rights, for example when they set up the protest in the Mall of America, just like how during the time period of this book Martin Luther King was fighting for rights, or how Rosaleen was going to register to vote.
