The sky and the hillside paths subtracted into the background. The cannonballs symbolized what would have been corpses on the battlefield. Fenton constructed a composition that presented “emptiness and unease” while bringing the battlefields to life.…

When they both end up in the same soccer team, they both learn that sisters is more than friendship and that by working together they can go far. The article, “The Evil Swirling Darkness” by Lauren Tarshis, said that people ignored the first signs of warning that a tornado was coming. This shows that danger can be real, even if you don’t think it is. For example, the text states that, “The family prayed for the safety of their missing relatives.” There were survivors, and they had hardships in and after the disaster. There are many effects of tornados.…

This book begins with telling us about the future the book is placed in. What we know as the "Cloud" currently has grown and become self aware (the story doesn’t explain how though), therefore humanity has named it the "Thunderhead". It has helped us develop a cure for death since it is all knowing, so everyone is now immortal. As people get older, they will go and “turn the corner” so that they look as young as 20.…

Overview of the Crank Trilogy The books that I chose to do my report on were the Crank trilogy, Crank, Glass, and Fallout, by Ellen Hopkins. Crank was published in 2004, Glass was published in 2007, and the last book, Fallout came out in 2013. Ellen Hopkins wrote these books when she had a personal experience when her daughter, Kristina, started using "the monster" after she met the wrong person. She wrote the books to help herself understand why her daughter did it, then she realized that other people would relate to it and how many people had the same story.…

Ender’s Shadow Book Review I chose Ender’s shadow for a reading for pleasure book this quarter because it was a companion novel to one of my all time favorite books: Ender’s game. This is a compelling reason to choose this book, as Ender’s game had an impeccable narrative that I thoroughly enjoyed, and hoped I would get to experience again through Ender’s shadow. (spoiler alert… I did) My favorite part of the text was the climactic battle between Ender Wiggin, and the alien fleet surrounding their home planet. The reason I found this particular segment of the book so enjoyable, is that this was the same last battle from Ender’s game.…

The book I chose to read for the third quarter is called “The Anybodies”. This book was written by Julianna Baggott (N. E. Bode). I was excited to read this book because the cover looked very interesting and it seemed like a book I would be interested to read. This book is about a girl named Fern who was switched with another baby at birth and she lived with a very boring family, the Drudgers, her whole life. Eleven years later, Fern’s biological father comes to their front door and the families agree to exchange their kids for the summer.…
