Book Of Galatians: Paul's Analysis

In the book of Galatians, Paul identifies particular gifts the believer receives from the Holy Spirit upon surrendering their life to God. Paul describes these gifts as fruit in the life of the believer, refined through a continual walk with God. Faithfulness is one of these gifts. Believing God to resolve problems is a common misconception of faith. Faithfulness is not merely following God to seek out answers, to solve problems, or find a magic solution. Following God without question and wholly trusting in His word and promises defines the act of faith.
Living by faith allows God to provide and protect. The common misconception of faith is the guarantee of a lifetime free of heartache and trouble. Abraham's life is an illustration of this idea. During his life, Abraham consistently struggles with God's leadership. From the moment, Abraham moves from Canaan, his life consistently mixes with disaster. Continuously Abraham demonstrates a lack of faith by

Faith is choosing to abide by God and trust in His guidance above all else. Deciding to not to settle on personal choices alone and permitting God to guide their life, displays a believer's faith. Noah is an excellent example of faithfulness. God called upon Noah to build the ark to withstand the rain sent by God, which would soon flood the earth. Noah, who had no cast-iron certainty in what God was asking him to do, put God’s word into action. Even though it had yet to rain, the preparation was difficult, and the task was beyond his capabilities, Noah did not argue. Without a guarantee, for the future, Noah built the ark, loads his family inside, and waits out the storm. Noah’s faithfulness and his confidence in God’s plan and purpose, shined through these actions. Additionally, God had proved to Noah that His word was true. Through Noah's faithfulness, God provided and protected Noah and his family for generations to

Paul’s Letter to the Galatians plays a pivotal role in shaping theological understanding as we know it. It has provoked us to rethink about our relationship with God, and to reconsider who really is this God we serve? In this case, Galatians holds such great reverence among Christians in answering these overarching questions, because of Paul’s skillful ability to challenge authority and condemn the Galatians for following under “the desires of the flesh,” rather than living by “the Spirit” (5.16). In order for us to understand the significance of Galatians and its role in shaping our interpretation of these questions, we must first cultivate a deeper understanding of the context behind Paul’s letter within the interest of the contemporary reader.…

While there is controversy about the authorship of Galatians due to the style and context of the book, it is evident that the author is Paul according to most historians. James Boice notes in his commentary, “Paul, as the author, is mentioned by name not only at the beginning (1:1) but also toward the end of the letter in verse (5:2).” The first people who first became known as the Galatians were known as Celts from the barbarian tribal stock, also known as the Gauls. There are difficulties in finding out when Galatians was written, where it was written, and to whom it was exactly written to. There are debates as to whether this letter was sent to the ethnic Galatians who invaded and occupied central Asia Minor (North Galatian theory), or to the racially mixed inhabitants of the Roman province of Galatia (South Galatian theory).…

The conviction in the tone of Paul’s letter to the Galatians explaining how they must live by faith, not in doing “works of the law” is astounding.” Did you receive the Spirit by doing works of the law or by believing what you heard”? (New Oxford Annotated Bible Gal. 3:2) His words carry a power that when read, his inspiration becomes unquestionable. Paul’s argument that only those who believe and act according to faith in Christ are blessed, while those that act according to their works are cursed is a strong, compelling, yet confusing argument.…

The Elephant that is God If you asked any devout Christian or Atheist, to define the meaning of faith, they would give you completely different answers. Regardless of what one may have faith in, faith is not something that is easily discovered.…

Being good is often something people view as an outward thing. You do a good deed for someone, or you were good today, but goodness is not really an outward thing at least not entirely. Wanting to do good for others begins in the heart.…
