The controversy of book censorship has been around in America since the beginning of American colonization. Whether a person opposes book censorship or is for it, there is always something being stirred up. The list is already long and still growing. It consists of literature like Of Mice and Men, for its offensive language, racism, and violence, or The Outsiders, for its anti-religious content plus many, many more books for similar and completely different reasons. Best-Sellers and might I say very good books are being banned from schools because parents don’t want their child to be offended but the content. A ton of the controversial books can teach the readers about history, therefore, books should not be banned because of the story beyond the words on the pages.
