One day, there was a child who reminded me of myself with her indecisiveness, she came back to the desk three times to switch her book but ended up going with the first book she had chosen. The hardest days were those that I had solo shifts during the rush-hour, and I loved it even then. Through this opportunity, I have gotten to spread my love for reading onto a new generation. Another volunteer opportunity I have done at the library over the past two years is the Book Buddies program. This program involves a child between grades one to three is paired with a teen and the two read together for six weeks. Since this program has been running, I have been a part of it, as well as taking on a substitute role this year. This program allowed me to have an increased role I would be able to have in spreading an appreciation for literature. Both years I was placed with a second grader, who differed very much in their reading abilities and I had to address situations as they came up in order to aid the children. My first year, I was placed with a girl who was eager to learn, but struggled with reading. helped her by switching off reading
