Out of the many stories Shahrazad tells the king, the one that I personally like the most is The Story of the Merchant and the Demon. The merchant unknowingly killed the demon’s son. The demon in return wants to kill the merchant. As the merchant cries out for mercy, he recites:

I have never read a story with so many stories that are within the main storyline. This is a unique quality that is implemented to enhance the plot of the story because it is a never-ending pattern of Shahrazad having to tell the king a story nightly. Each story she tells is significant in its own way, like the one analyzed above. The significance of the story is to show Shahrayar that he is not the only one or thing that has encountered heartfelt troubles and that they will pass and he will get over them. I feel that by the king hearing the different stories with underlying meanings encouraged him to rise above his hurt and anguish and move on.
