The Fallborough Masquerade Ball
Once upon a time, there were a group of young teenagers who attended a ball and their worst fear and nightmares came alive. It all started at the wonderful town of Fallborough, Pennsylvania, during a rare, unusually cold autumn. The sun shone bright, yet the cynical wind wandered through town, blowing pure cold into the hearts of Fallborough’s residents. The lonely streets of such magical place were soon to be filled with the released students form Fallaborough Academy, who were bound to crowd the square center since their school day had recently ended. It was there that a peculiar group of friends met. To begin with, there was Elizabeth Becker, who was the leader of the pack, besides being a gorgeous blue

The day seemed to progress normally, but it wasn’t until they got home that they found out a extravagant envelope laying on the floor at the door. Elizabeth was confused by this confusing and mysterious wonder, she pondered what could be inside, and about five seconds later when curiosity had gotten the best of her, she opened the envelope. She was surprised to see such a well- handcrafted invite, it read: “You have been cordially invited to the Masquerade Ball being held on November 1st. Please arrive at 7 P.M. at the Lamp-gliderish Castle located off highway 58. Wear your best gown, look your best, and you may live… to tell what an amazing experience it was!Don’t forget to disguise your identity with your most outstanding mask!” With her interest piqued, she proceeded to call her best …show more content…
After everyone gathering to have brunch, each went back to their residence and got ready for the ball; it was not until the clock strike a quarter past seven that the punctual group arrived and were greeted at the door by a welcoming party. The group entered and went straight into the snack bar, for their hunger was so great, besides those snacks were not going to eat themselves. They did some dancing, chatting, and standing, and by and by, time went. But when the clock marked midnight thundering occured and suddenly, the room went pitch dark. All they could see was the electric shock of the lightning bounce around outside the outer garden for a split second. Doom and fright came upon their hearts; dizziness came upon next, for they could not recollect what just had happened. A piercing scream interrupted their thoughts; the group of friends turned around trying to find where it came from. Immediately, the lights went back on, and a horrid scene met their

As I walked down the hallway of the Memorial Union, I search for the staircase that will bring me to my haven for the next hour and a half. After I expressed worry to my friend that I would have nowhere to go during my long class breaks, she told me that Sparky’s Den is where she goes to hang out between classes. As I descended down the gray staircase, I pictured what the room would look like; with a name like Sparky’s Den, I saw a crowded room with dark brown wooden paneling on the walls, dim lighting, red, plush booths lining the walls, and gives off a sports bar atmosphere; you can imagine my surprise when I reached the bottom of the stairs and looked into a bland, white room with light brown finishes lining the walls with thirty-or-so tables and booths, and two long couches. As I walked through the opening in the room, I was hit with a cool blast of air. While the Memorial Union was cool, it was no match to the artic breeze of Sparky’s Den; as the cold air hit me, goosebumps rose all over my body.…

Wiping my tears from my face, I released how silent the house was, the bathroom illuminated with an eerie glow, a feeling of dread settled itself at the pit of my stomach, my self-loathing and rage replaced by fear. The reticence only served to accentuate my feeling of vulnerability. A wave of nausea hit me again, staggering to my feet, I hobbled to the phone. The police had to know about Ariels death before the killer struck again, I let out a weak laugh, trying to mask my growing trepidation, a tinge of desperation laced my voice as I narrated the situation, my vulnerability grew by the second. A second wave of nausea hit me, a deluge of blood and vomit disemboguing from my mouth, a sickly amalgam of blood and chunks of vomit caking my legs and the floor around me.…

We sat on the hot metal of the bleachers outside of the baseball field. The rainy days of Spring were replaced with the sweltering heat of the Summer, and hearing the clink of a baseball hit a bat in the Summer had become a tradition for almost five years. My older brother Dakota had spent those years being bombarded by sweat, mud, and the encouragement of his family, friends, and coaches when the team needed to hit a ball or when he wanted to show off how much better he had gotten since the last season. We were all ready for the season to be over so that we could plan our almost yearly trip to Virginia to visit our Aunt, Uncle, and our almost overwhelming blue-eyed cousins, Liam and Carlile. When the baseball season had come to a happy--or sad--ending, we would plan the trip and be piling into the car within the next week or two, to go on the getaway…
