Boo Radley’s universe of obligation is revealed in this chapter during the fire when both Jem and Scout are outside during the fire. Since the fire is burning in Miss Maudie’s house, the children have their back to the Radley house and don’t notice anything unusual until they go back into their own house. They realize that Scout mysteriously has a blanket that she doesn’t own around her shoulders. After Atticus realized that they weren’t lying when they say they hadn’t moved, Jem concludes that Boo Radley, the only person they didn’t see at the fire, did this act of kindness. This shows that Boo cares about people and feels that it is his responsibility to keep Jem and Scout safe and healthy. This act of kindness shows and even refutes the gossip about the Radleys, specifically Boo. This act would be one that a nice and loving person would commit, not the monster he is believed to be. This results in Scout and Jem looking at Boo Radley in a different way. (Chapter 8 Question 4)

But, some words directly insult you, your family, or what you believe in. These bigger insults can lead to depression and a drop in moral. Although every insult is bad, some are worse than others and may cause real damage. (Chapter 11 Question
