I am reading To Kill A Mockingbird by Harper Lee and I am on page 42. This book is about a girl named Scout, her older brother-(Jem), her dad-(Atticus) and her nanny-(Calpurnia). They live in Maycomb County, Alabama. Scout and Jem meet a new friend named Dill. They dare each other to try and touch Boo Radley house. Boo Radley is known for being a malevolent phantom. School starts and Scout meets her new teacher named Miss Caroline. Miss Caroline meets her new student named Burris Ewell which came to school with “cooties” lice in his hair and made her cry. In this journal, I will be predicting and evaluating.

I am predicting that Jem, Scout, and Dill will not meet Boo. Here are two reasons why they are scared of boo. The first reason is he looks scary. He has bloody hands from killing pets and animals. There is a huge scar on his face. He tremendously drools and has rotten yellow teeth. The last reason is stories told about him. He once stabs his father in the leg with a pair of scissors. The Radleys tall pecan tree shook their fruit into the schoolhouse, but the nuts lay untouched by children: Radley pecans would kill you. Mr. Radley would chain boo to the bed. Here are two reasons why they are characterized as dirty. The first reason is they are visibly dirty. Burris has “cooties” lice in his hair. His neck was dark gray. The backs of his hands were rusty and his fingernails were black deep into the quick. The second reason is there home. The Ewell live very close to the dump. They lived like they were animals. Here are two reasons why the Ewell'S are rude. The first reason is school. He only goes to school on the first day, he’s been taking 1st for his 6th time now. Burris starts arguing with Miss Caroline. Miss Caroline starts to break down and cry. My second reason is Bob Ewell. He hunts and traps out of season. Bob spends money on whiskey and can not feed his kids. As you see the Ewell are dirty
