Starting out with these characteristics we have the obvious one of Boo being afraid. Now throughout the novel were told that Boo is forced to stay inside, which supported by the fact that he is never seen outside of the house till the end of the novel. However, when Jem and Scout have a late-night conversation Jem says, “I think I’m beginning to understand why Boo Radley’s stayed shut up in the house all this time… it’s because he wants to stay inside.” (Lee, 227).
