Bono : A True Inspiration Who would've thought that a famous rockstar in a band could affect the world in such a huge way? Bono has inspired many people by writing lyrics that focus on things like politics and religion. He has also met with many political leaders and even spoke at the United Nations to help those less fortunate. Most impressive is all the money he has raised to make his country Ireland proud. The Irish Musician Bono has inspired many people all over the world through his music, his humanitarian work with the poor, and the many charities he has created to fight diseases in third world countries. Some famous songs are “Sunday Bloody Sunday” which is about unarmed protesters getting shot, “ The Saints Are Coming” which is about those who suffered from Hurricane Katrina, and “Pride” which was written about Martin Luther King Jr.” One of U2’s most famous albums “The Joshua Tree” brought awareness to drug addiction, homelessness, and political turmoil. After the attacks on 9-11 the album “Walk On” gave everyone hope for a safer future. Bono has said “ music can change the world because it can change people” Although it would be easy for Bono to just write a check and give money to the poor, Bono gets involved and gives not only his own money but takes his valuable time to think up and create songs that not only inspire people as they sing along but also make them want to get up and help change the …show more content…
Paul Hewson better known as Bono, the lead singer for U2 has led an amazing and inspiring life. Born May 10, 1960 in Dublin, Ireland. He grew up living with his mother, father, and brother. Tragically on September 10, 1974 Bono's mother died. On September 25, 1976 while at school Bono answered an ad to be part of a band which later became known as U2. U2 began touring and released their first album in 1980 called “Boy”. Bono and his high school sweetheart Alison were married in 1982 and have four children today. On July 13,1985 Bono took the stage in London for the fundraiser Live AID which was the beginning of his humanitarian works. In 1987 they released “The Joshua Tree” which won them two Grammys and made them more well known. In 2002 he confounded the One campaign to fight poverty around the world. Time magazine in 2005 awarded him with the “Person of the year” award. Also, in 2005 U2 was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame. Being nominated for a nobel peace prize in 2006 was something Bono will never forget. Queen Elizabeth also honored him in 2007 and made him an honorary knight.
