The University of Tampa’s Bonner Program opened communication about suicide on our campus. We are creating a suicide awareness day. 12 different on-campus organizations are working with us to start the conversation on the serious topic. Suicide is the second leading cause of death among college students. On average, eight to ten percent of student consider suicide throughout their college career. By bring awareness of the mental health illness, Bonner is opening the floor for dialog that could normalize counseling for the student.
