Personal Narrative: Blood Loss

The moment we’re back in the apartment, I’m on my bed with Felix sitting beside me while Thorn fetches some medical supplies. I didn’t even know they had medical supplies. The knife is still in my shoulder and I groan in pain as my back lies against the bed, the blade shifting in between my muscles. My blood has drenched most of my shirt and though the bleeding is now slow, I feel the affections of my blood loss. I’m dizzy and irritable. I want to sleep, but that isn’t a good idea.
“You couldn’t have taken the knife out a while ago,” I growl through my teeth. Talking only makes the pain worse, but I feel like complaining. Either one of them got seriously injured.
“No,” he replies simply, lifting my head up and placing another pillow behind it. “But keeping the blade in, it slows the bleeding and stops the diseases in the air. The last thing you need is this wound becoming infected.”

“Ready?” he asks.
My body is tense from the anxiousness of waiting for the needle to sow my skin back together. I turn my head from my shoulder, keeping my eyes shut. “Just get it over with.”
There’s no reply, just a sharp pain in my skin as the needle is pulled through; dragging the vodka soaked thread along with it. I groan as the burning feeling returns. I twitch and shake as the needle pierces through my skin over and over again. The pressure grows tighter as the thread is pulled closer together. What feels like forever, ends in a matter of minutes and as Felix ties the thread off and cuts it, some of the pressure is lifted.
I finally relax, breathing heavy. I slowly sit up and though it hurts, it’s nothing I can’t deal with. “Thanks,” I breathe with a small smile.
“No problem, just dodge the knife next time,” Felix says, half teasing. “It will save you a lot of pain. I am sorry about that situation, though. I should have known the Reds would try something like that. At least we knew they aren’t honest traders
