Bone Cancer is a malignant tumor of the bone that destroys normal bone tissue. Benign bone tumors are more common than malignant ones. Benign tumors do not spread, do not destroy bone tissue, and are rarely a threat to life. Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis (ALS), or Lou Gehrig’s Disease, was first found in 1869 by French neurologist Jean-Martin Charcot, but it wasn’t until 1939 that Lou Gehrig brought national and international attention to the disease. To diagnose bone cancer, you can get x-rays, biopsy, and blood tests. X-rays include, bone scan, CT/CAT scan, MRI, PET scan, angiogram. A biopsy is just the removal of tissue samples from the tumor. Blood tests determine the level of enzyme called alkaline phosphatase. The process with ALS can be done as EMG and NCV, blood and urine studies, spinal tap, MRIs, Merlogram of cervical spine, muscle and/or nerve
