There are numerous records of cancer dating back to ancient Egypt, almost 3000 years ago. Bone cancer was found in the mummies’ bones together with the notes of several cases of tumors and breast ulcers. Within the 16th and 18th century there were more scientific studies of the matter. Therefore, the 20th century has become the most significant relating to cancer discoveries: the number of deadly carcinogens was determined, among which there was tobacco, benzene, hydrocarbons, coal tars, viruses like HIV, hepatitis B and C.
