The components of effective leadership and the characteristics of effective leaders apply to the four frames by uniquely focusing on the “possibilities for leadership” (Bolman & Deal, 2008, p. 528). Bolman and Deal (2008) noted that “structural leaders rethink relationship of structure, strategy and environment” (p. 510). In order to rethink, their needs to be a clear vision and focus in the direction the leader wants to take the organization (Bolman & Deal, 2008). For example, Bolman and Deal (2008) explained that GM Vice President anticipated a growing company, he restructured accordingly. The Human Resource Leadership frame is a caring and understanding leader who uses emotions to inspire employees (Bolman & Deal, 2008). People-oriented leaders, make employees feel as if they are a part of the organization (Bolman & Deal, 2008). Bolman and Deal (2008) suggested that political leaders are straight forward and to the point. Symbolic Leaders focuses on symbolic leadership, such as “beliefs, traditions, myths, rituals and ceremonies” (p. 522).
