The Qur’an, an Islamic holy text, often states that it is a religion of peace and charity, and, until recently, violence in the name of the faith was quite isolated. As an anonymous member of Reddit’s r/Islam community states, “though Islam is a peaceful religion, not all Muslims support peace.” One of those few was Osama bin Laden, commonly known as America’s prime adversary. He and his organization, Al Qaeda, took responsibility for atrocities committed against the American people, atrocities like the September 11th attacks, one of the nation’s darkest days. However, in the 1970’s and 80’s, the United States itself funded bin Laden and his colleagues.…

ISIS has taken over Syria and Iraq and has altered the way of life of many Iraqis and Syrians. The people that live under ISIS’ rule have been affected by many different things. If ISIS leaders decide they do not like something you do, you will most likely be beaten, abused, or killed for doing it. They also do not give them enough time for using their water, giving only 2 hours a day for a city to shower at a community shower. While conducting library research to identify the correlation between women and rape I came across many interesting findings, analyzed different perspectives and eventually linked the sociological perspective that society has formed around women and the issue of rape. Indeed, I found that in recent decades; thousands of women have been trafficked into prostitution and other forms of sex slavery in the United States (Bales & Soodalter, 2009). They all have different characteristics at the beginning but are like each other in the end. But in all cases dreams are shattered as they are dragged into their own hell as their bodies are subjugated to beatings and rape.…

Many people are under the assumption that the fight for women’s rights is over. Readers are forced to confront the truth in Patricia McCormick’s book, Sold, wherein a young girl named Lakshmi is sold into the realm of sex slavery. The suffering and horrors faced by the girls in the brothels act as a rather unsavory eye opener to readers. In the brothel, women’s rights and equality exist solely as a dream. Basic human rights are not afforded to the women and girls.…

Written by Laura Blue and Jonathan Woodward it says “... the rebels' world-renowned campaign of terror, which included cutting off the lips, ears and noses of civilians as they fought the government.” As well, in the article called Children in Somalia Facing War Crimes it states “Al-Shabab is also using increasingly threatening recruitment methods, luring children with the promise of phones and money or conducting raids on schools or abductions in public areas.” All of these excerpts from these articles have one thing in common; the commanders took part in forcing these children into war. Forcing them to commit crimes that later will get charged for even though it wasn’t the child’s intentions to do…

A commercial market is an environment for a business that includes a system of exchanging goods and services for money. Most of the time business markets are transparent and follow generally acceptable ethics, however there are some markets that don’t. The market of sex trafficking is a billion-dollar industry that exploits millions of children and adults, treating them as commodities. In an article by Eve Ensler on the sex slave market she states that “women and girls [are] on the same list as cattle”. The market for children is the most demanded with a price tag of $165 per child 1 to 9 years old and decreases with age (Ensler).…
