Blackcurrant Juice Vs Raspberry Cordial Experiment

In this experiment to configure the drink that has the most effect on teeth, the different drinks were placed in cup containing a hard boiled egg then weighed daily using a weighing scale.

The results indicated that coke out of the seven other drinks had the most effect on the weight of the egg with acted as the teeth. If we look at the result as the days increased the weight of the egg and the drink decreased. The results were all constant except the raspberry cordial. The average of the cordial stated that originally the egg was 829.42 grams and at the end 893.57 grams. This average result could have occurred due to the fact that the results are averaged therefore not the exact measurement.

According to my original plans the seven drinks I was testing were; coke ,milk,water,apple juice, blackcurrant juice, powerade and British tea. However when I went shopping for the drinks blackcurrant juice was not available in store. So I thought I should change the blackcurrant juice to blackcurrant cordial as there was already apple juice, however blackcurrant cordial was also unavailable. Therefore I changed it from blackcurrant cordial to raspberry cordial which was the solution to this …show more content…
I also used a stopwatch to time everything and ensure that the times were all the same. An a electric weighing scale was used in comparison to a manual weighing scale to ensure that I could have results that were more accurate as the electronic scale provided me with two decimal place numbers.

Another method in which this experiment could be conducted was instead of using a hard boiled egg just the shell of the egg. The whole egg isn’t an exact representation of the teeth, its just the shell. The shell of an egg and the enamel of the teeth have very similar properties as they are similar in colour, range from light yellow to white and the eggshells protects the egg from breaking just as the enamel protects the teeth from decaying.

This experiment could have also been conducted in a different manner but still with the egg as the teeth. I could have placed the eggs in a fishnet and the into jars, rather than just placing it into the cup. If I had used this method then I would be able to measure just the egg rather than the egg and the
