One of the most famous aviation companies in the world, Boeing has a long and storied history which few other businesses can equal. The first origins of Boeing came in 1910, when William E. Boeing bought the first airplane factory for his eventual company, The Boeing Company. In 1917, the company helped develop aircraft for World War I. From the 1920s to the 1930s, the company successfully sold numerous aircraft designs to the U.S. Military, which is still does to this day. Prior to and during World War II, the company continued to design multiple aircraft for commercial and military purposes. In 1958, Boeing designed and released its first version of its now-famous airplane line, the Boeing 707. In the 1960s and 70s, they designed and built the Lunar Orbiters, the first stage of the Saturn V Rocket, and the Lunar Rover Vehicles. In 1981, Boeing flew its first Boeing 767 aircraft, another aircraft still in service today. In 1991, the U.S. Air Force chose a design offered by a consortium of companies, including Boeing, which would eventually become the F-22 Raptor tactical fighter jet. Their commercial line of planes is called the Boeing 7X7’s, which is the naming convention Boeing uses for all its jumbo jets. Ranging from the retired 707 to the latest 787, Boeing currently has 13,320 planes in active service, and three hundred seventy Boeing 787’s in the air as well. Boeing also produces famous military jets and aircraft, used in defense of the United States. Some famous defense aircraft include the AH-64 Apache and AH-6 Light Attack Helicopter. These aircraft are used my multiple military branches, but especially by the Army. Finally, Boeing has produced the current aircraft that are the official planes carrying the President, which are known as Air Force One
