Boechera stricta
Boechera stricta, belongs to mustard family Brassicaceae. It is restricted to higher elevations and faces both abiotic (e.g. drought) and biotic stressors (e.g. herbivore) at low elevation range limits (Rushworth et al. 2011). For understanding genetic controls on ecologically, these species are very important which provide further understanding of underlying mechanisms in natural populations as compared to artificial lab experiments. Boechera stricta is widely distributed in the western the United States. It is well adapted to diverse ecological conditions in whole United States. Therefore, this species is believed as an ideal to understand effects of biotic and abiotic stressors.
According to Schranz et al. (2005) and Song&

Studying the combined effects of drought and herbivore can provide more information about the machenisms behind these stress responses. We studied both drought and herbivore and their combined effect on Boechera stricta. We had used two populations i.e. Black Hills (lower elevation) and Big Horns (high elevation) and two genotypes from each population. After a certain growth with similar conditions to all the plants, we started our treatment on 23rd dad and start stressing half of plants with drought and kept half as control. We watered drought stressed plants only once a week and twice a week to control treatment plants. After 4 weeks of continuous treatment, we exposed half of the plants from both drought and control to a general herbivore Spodoptera exigua and kept half again for control of herbivore. We exposed each plant with 3-4 larvae and allow them to feed for 3 days. After we checked feeding damage on leaves of each plant. We harvested our plants and extract defense compound Glucosinolates from each plant. According to Schranz et al. (2009), concentrations of defense compounds due to drought stress condition. According to our results, when only herbivore is present on plant in absence of drought conditions, ratio of concentration of defense chemicals is increasing. In contrast, when there are both herbivores as well as

Over time, a combination of strategies have shaped the diversity and character of the plants. One strategy for coping with high concentrations of salt is special salt-excreting glands on leaves. Another is the exclusion of salt from entering roots with water uptake. In general, each species has mechanisms to regulate levels of salt in sap.…

The murals on the second floor of the Kelsey Museum of Archaeology are scaled watercolor replications of the those painted on the walls of the so-called Villa of the Mysteries in Italy. They were commissioned by Francis W. Kelsey in 1924 to preserve the amazing images of the frescoes from continuing deterioration and were re-created by Maria Barosso, an Italian artist, over the course of two years. The original images were first painted on the walls of a Roman villa outside of Pompeii and ultimately affected by the infamous eruption of Mount Vesuvius. As they were created near the beginning of the first century, what the murals depict, or why they were created is relatively unknown. There are theories, of course, but Italy today is much different than it was nearly two thousand years ago, so no one knows for certain.…

It was noted that the presence or absence of predators doesn't seem to have any affect on the plant survivorship, but increase in vapor pressure results in a greater survivorship. She therefore came to the conclusion that the stability of mutualisms can in fact be affected by some extrinsic factors. This proves that just because the yucca-yucca moth relationship exists doesn't mean that their interaction guarantees their survival. In some cases their existence is also hindered by their relationship if it is obligate. She suggests future long-term research into a wider variety of extrinsic sources and larger geographic areas, in order to fully understand the evolution of the symbiosis.…

Traditions that should be saved for future generations should be Christmas, Rosca de los Reyes, and the day of the dead, because some would teach how to share and others how to give and have fun with the family/ socialize with their future relatives. Christmas would be one because it could teach the kids of the next generation how to give. The children will be taught how to give the people in need, it would also be good to be grateful for what they’ve received, and how to share their gifts with their family and friends it can also impact the rest of the world by doing gift exchanges and etc. Rosca de los Reyes would be another one because it could show them how to socialize with relatives and cook for the family. They’ll not be as bored…
