The structure of the essay, “Crossfit: The new fitness craze has a lot to tell us about late western capitalism,” by Eleanor Robinson follows a simple two part division of comparison and factual data that efficiently coincide with one another to create an argumentative essay. This essay is split into several paragraphs, however many of the paragraphs pair up with one another to capture the same central idea. The introduction of the essay introduces the writing style of the author, which is very informal, dramatic, and opinionated, as well as explains to the reader what the essay will be about, which is in this essay the disapproval of CrossFit as a fitness trend. Robinson explains in this section (very broadly, for it is still part of the introduction), in her opinion, the negative aspects of CrossFit that stand it out from other fitness trends such as, “[CrossFit is] running, jumping, and lifting things until you vomit or make it to a higher astral plane based on the mind cleansing properties of extreme pain.”…
