Since the rising events between the justification of police officers’ actions and victims’ deaths, such as the Ferguson incident. A proposal was given requiring police officers, nationally, to wear body cameras. By doing so, this will: reduce the amount of ambiguity, help improve the behaviors of all persons and provide a more accurate record of the scenes. In which, other sources may be considerably vulnerable to distortion thus creating a less reliable source. By enabling an active, on-site source, body cameras can provide a full objective view of incidents from the start to the end. There are a few notes that are needed to be made in regards to the viability of body cameras. This is, that footage from the body cameras are not meant to be a solution to all the problems concerning the provisions of reliable evidence. Since there are ways that the footage can either be omitted, cut, or distorted by the officer on site, regulations must be made to dissuade any unethical acts. Just as in the Michael Brown incident, where Brown was fatally shot by an officer who had “accidentally” turned off her camera. This causes a limited view on the encounter happening with the officer and the civilian and thus have to result in personal accounts, physical evidence that may be interpreted in many ways, and videos from either the dash cam or from bystanders.
