“A person who creates paintings or drawings as a profession or hobby” (Oxford Dictionary). An artist isn’t just someone who can draw or paint, it is someone with a deep passion for art. These said people may also make money on the side by selling their work or teaching an art class. Television star Bob Ross not only evidently enjoys creating art but also makes a career off of it. Art isn’t something that is strictly followed by a rule book. There are countless different styles and techniques making it almost possible for anyone to become an artist. According to the definition of an artist, Bob Ross is an artist be he makes money off of his work while creating art on his free time. Bob Ross helps to teach people techniques on how to make art, usually paintings. With his tutorials on television Ross provided a class that would allow people to pursue art in their own homes. Ross not only taught students but also pushed them to follow their dreams, “in his life he did a lot of good—most notably by encouraging countless numbers of people to start painting, even if they’d been discouraged from doing art before” (Is Bob Ross Helpful). Ross made a significant amount of money by selling his art, which definitely makes him an artist when it comes to the definition. It is known that Ross didn’t make money from his show but instead found a way to not put a price on his teachings, “The majority of Ross’ income came from art supplies and how-to products.” (Bob Ross was an Entrepreneur). After selling supplies and creating tutorials Ross got to paint for enjoyment and an income. By combining his passion and income Bob Ross definitely fits the definition of an
