Robert Love, also known as Bob Love led the 2007 campaign for National Stuttering Awareness Week. Love, suffered an extremely severe stutter since he was young. He was educated and talented and played basketball for the Chicago Bulls. He stuttered so badly that in huddles during timeouts between games, his teammates had to speak for him. After 11 seasons in the NBA, and after being dumped by his wife, he retired but was unable to find regular jobs since all of them required the ability to speak clearly. Eventually, he was hired as a dishwasher for Nordstrom Department Store in Seattle and his employer decided to pay for his speech therapy.
