Being out on the water is exhilarating and is a feeling that is loved by humans, as well as dogs! Dogs are man’s best friend, there’s no doubt about it. So it’s not uncommon for owners to bring their furry companion along for the ride. Dogs love to go out with their family. However, before you bring your pooch aboard, make sure you are prepared. Knowing what to do before and during a boat ride is essential for your dog’s safety and wellbeing.

• Make sure you have a place where your dog can go for bathroom time. If you plan on stopping off at different destinations, make sure you bring a leash so you can take them off the boat so they can do their business on land. However, there are portable dog pottys available in the event your itinerary doesn’t include regular land stops.
• Being out on the water can get very hot, so make sure you bring your dog’s water bowl and bring plenty of water. Bringing more water than what is thought to be needed is best, just in case of unforeseen circumstances.
