Being raised in a mostly white neighborhood has caused me to speak in a very articulate fashion and behave in the same manner as the others around me. In pursuit of a better education, I started my first year at Michigan Math and Science Academy in the 7th grade. Eddie Mabo 's campaign for civil rights succeeded through legislation such as the Mabo Decision, Native Title Act, and the Wik Decision. Their campaign was highly effective in the way of Aboriginal civil rights; the Mabo case and its subsequent outcomes became significant for the Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander community.…

The biggest difficulty that I’ve encountered in BMS was when I experienced discouragement during the Post-Acts Simulation. It was a brief moment but it frightened me because I felt uncertain of my capabilities and the adequacy of my contributions to the organization. I was struck by the weight of the work that was yet to be done; the academic requirements and organizational responsibilities. It may not seem as a big threat to one’s performance but for someone who strives to keep an optimistic mindset like myself, it can cause a great deal of personal affront because I’ve always been very enthusiastic when it comes to the BMS activities. I was able to overcome this obstacle by reminding myself of why I joined JOTP in the first place; why…
