My name is Lily Pridmore. I'm twenty-four now and in somewhat of a predicament. First of all, let me tell you about my story. I hail from a small town in Maine. My dad used to be the mayor before his dirty deeds caught up with him. Yes, I grew up as that spoiled little rich girl everyone hated. True, the rich, snobby crowd I ran with, were arrogant little beasts but I had heart and compassion.
So, let’s get to the point. After my father was ousted, we lost everything. And by everything, I mean down to the last ratty dish rag. I was almost complete with my college when I was told I would have to quit due to finances. I was heartbroken because I had plans to take over the world. So, my ever so loving father forced me into an engagement

I don't think I'll ever forget myself as I was just then; my legs sprawled up on the picnic table and back arched to try and conform to the rigid wooden chair that would never be comfortable. My eyes were shut, and my sigh was soft. My chest hurt, but not in a broken-hearted kind of way. It was actually physical, but I tried to ignore it. I felt like crying for no reason, but I didn't.…

Five months had passed since the day I took Bob Ewell’s life. Mr. Tate and Atticus did not tell anyone about my involvement; according to them Jem defended himself and Scout, knocking him onto his own knife before collapsing in the dirt. Because of Scout’s rectangular field of vision and panicked haze, she could not accurately describe what happened and contentedly settled with Mr. Tate’s story. The court case came and went without much difficulty.…

My mother tells me that dreams are crossroads, not belonging to the mortal or spirit world. In dreams, the deceased can communicate with the living, tie up loose ends. The lost souls would be able to apologize for anything done wrong, be able to say “I love you” one last time, and even tell them where a certain large stack of money is hidden. The possibilities are infinite in Crossroad. Once anything that made the spirit feel fragmented arose, they were condemned to wander Crossroad in search of closure.…

I am over protective. No, I am not Lancelot outside the palace doors; nor am I the bouncer keeping minors from entering the club. As I was contemplating my first move to resolve the situation, I knew that I would need an adult ally to achieve my purpose. My mother would have to be that person. We spent the first night of the trip in a motel in Donner, CA. The next day we continued our journey to the San Fransico Bay area, where my father had secured a job working for the railroad. The first two days in California we stayed in a nice motel, and it even had a swimming pool.…
