Register to read the introduction… One of the most common devices would be the Bluetooth advice. Bluetooth is an input device and there are multiple physical devices that use Bluetooth to connect to the smartphone. Some of these devices are Bluetooth headsets, keyboards, speakers, headphones and you can even connect to another smartphone using Bluetooth. This is only a few of the hundreds of devices that are available. These apparatuses all have something in common. These devices use Bluetooth that connects to your phone wirelessly and can use different functions on your phone. It relays information to your phone that allows it to store information on your phone or use data that is already stored on your phone. The headset will input the info needed to relay any calls coming in or going out to a small earpiece that you can then communicate with the person on the other end of the line, wirelessly, using Bluetooth. Bluetooth keyboard is similar input as most keyboard but it needs no physical connection, it’s all Bluetooth capable. The speakers will use the music app on your phone to play music through speakers, also wirelessly and the headphones work the same way. (Bluetooth SIG, 2013) These functions that smartphones are capable of while using input devices are so advanced compared to what we had just a couple years ago. There have been many advances over the past years, and there is only expected to be more. In the past the most common type of input devices was a discrete input most commonly using the keyboard to enter information into the computer. There are a many more devices used for a more continuous input, the most basic being the mouse which has been around for a longer period of time. The blackberry also came out with the trackball, and now we have the touchscreen on many devices that is a continuous input. The function of an input device seems so simple, the concept of entering data into a computer using a piece of computer hardware equipment. Though, it is so much more complex than that. The keyboard functions as much more than something to type on, it is also a control center. Also, all the types of input devices for smartphones vary from the more simple hard keyboard to the more complex pieces of Bluetooth devices. These technologies and the advancements that have taken place thus far are all examples of where the future may take us. Input devices will be taken to another level, fitting in to each and every person’s lifestyle more
