Guts was written by Gary Paulsen who also wrote Hatchet. What Guts is mainly about is the pilot that dies from a heart attack in Hatchet. But they were the only service available for thousands of square miles. Gary went on one call on a farm when a guy died in his arms from a heart attack and the last thing he did was look into Gary’s eye’s. When Gary came to write Hatchet and the scene where the pilot is dying, he remembered this man of all the men he saw dead from heart attacks and car wrecks and farm accidents. Gary remembered him and his eyes and he put him in the plane next to Brian because he was, above all things, real, and he wanted the book to be real. But he did not sleep well that night when he wrote him into the book and I will not sleep well tonight thinking of his eyes. Thanks alot

Male orca whales have collapsed dorsal fins. When there in the wild there dorsal fin stays straight up. When there in captivity there dorsal fin collapses. Common bottlenose dolphins produce a wide variety of underwater sounds (Lammers & Oswald, 2015) allowing the detection and discrimination of the position of a sound in three-dimensional space (Mooney et al., 2008). These animals are also known for their vocal learning capabilities, with high ability to imitate other animal’s whistles, including man-made whistles or artificial sounds (Lilly, 1965; Janik & Slater, 1997; Tyack, 1997; Janik, 2000; Miksis et al., 2002). Things such as pollution (biotic and abiotic) can make them ill or kill them, but the water in their tanks is always being filtered and kept fresh, free from pollutants. Dangerous encounters with fishermen who only care about bringing in their catch can injure them if they get tangled up in their nets, or even if they’re just around the boat the can get hurt from propellers. Their food sources are quickly being depleted, such as the Chinook Salmon which is extinct from overfishing.
