Imagine one of your family member or your best friend just got into a car accident and lost a lot of blood. They would need a blood transfusion but, what if there are no blood available to them? Have you ever wondered about the benefits blood does for you? Without blood, obviously you will not survive. Around 4.5 million Americans would die each year without life saving blood transfusions. 32,000 pints of blood are used each day in the U.S. That is a lot of blood needed in order for people to survive. According to the American Red Cross, every two seconds, someone in the U.S. needs a blood transfusion and 41,000 blood donations are needed everyday. While we might have a sufficient amount of blood, others aren’t as fortunate. They need blood to survive. If we have enough blood, why can’t we donate our blood for the sake of others? However, when you donate, the recipients aren’t the only ones benefiting from it; you are actually getting something out of it because donating blood is proven to make you healthier. The donation of blood is also very safe for donors and recipients so why wouldn 't you want to donate? The first reason why you should consider donating your blood is it can actually give you some major health benefits for the donors. If you donate, the chances of getting a heart attack can decrease enormously.
