In the book, “The Blood Of Olympus” by Rick Riordan, throughout the story the theme of sometimes there is power in numbers is evident. The story unfolds as seven demigods, the children of god or goddess and a human, have to fulfill the prophecy and save the world. The book begins as the seven must fight off giants and one of the demigods, Jason, the son of Zeus, is impaled and the theme is introduced as the seven join with their power in numbers to defeat the giants and save Jason. Then, the theme is developed as it is carried into the middle of the book as when the seven demigods must capture the distraught goddess of victory, Nike. During the conflict, the seven become separated, convinced that the strength for them in the final fight would be for the seven to split up. The seven separate and fight individually, losing more warriors than estimated, leaving the ground coated in the bodies of the seven demigods old friends. When two of the demigods join their forces together and take down more giants than all the rest, others soon join in, making a powerful force, crushing giants with ease. A quote from this scene that demonstrates the theme that sometimes there is power in numbers can be found on page 563 and it reads, “Annabeth had made it, with the power of the greatly numbered demigods, she and her friends had destroyed Gaea’s rule, using the power they had in numbers to defeat Gaea and her minions”(Riordan 563). This quote happens when Annabeth awakes the day after the fight, the memory of the victory of the fight replaying in her brain. This quote shows that the theme was clearly demonstrated during the conflict of Riordan’s book because the quote describes how Annabeth plainly knows that the reason for their victory is that the demigod’s had the power in numbers, which is showing the theme that sometimes there is power in
