The article caught my attention because the title hooked me into the idea that the biospleen was created for Ebola but in fact it was first planned out to treat sepsis. In the future, I would love to work in the medical world and reading the article gave me a new perspective of how fast science is moving. Maybe in the future, I won’t need to prescribe my patients to antibiotics, I would just perform the biospleen blood cleanse! The article made me question a lot of the information provided especially with how the biospleen had magnets to pull the viruses out of the blood. How did the bioengineers manage to find a method where the virus becomes attracted to the MBL? I learned that viruses are manipulative and speedy reproduces but I (at that current moment) did not understand how powerful the product was in order to actually do the same job as antibiotics without only killing the weaker bacteria and maybe leaving out the strong bacteria to become more resilient. Inventions like the biospleen can help save the world from many more viruses to …show more content…
Will this product work on cancers? So far, we know that the biospleen works on viruses of all kinds but what if there is a possibility that the invention can work on tumours and cancerous areas where doctors can not physically enter without seriously harming or killing a patient. For example, pancreatic cancer is one of the most deadly cancers, where there is no cure for the patient. Maybe the biospleen can filter out the mutations of the cells and cleanse the circulatory system of the patient, giving the pancreas clean blood to recover from. Another question I have is that will certain types of bacteria become resist to the device? It is not clearly stated if the biospleen pulls off mostly the weaker or stronger bacteria but if I were to treat the device like an antibiotic, what were to happen to the circulatory system if only most of the weaker bacteria were to removed, would the stronger bacteria form to create another virus resist illness expect now with the biospleen? I think many people all over the world have the same question as I; what are the consequences after the treatment of the biospleen? Every single form of treatment has consequences, some more dangerous than others but the article only covered the positive aspects of the invention without any negatives. Leaving me to wonder if the biospleen will leave patients with weaken immune systems, unprotected for
